A wide array of senior planning officers from various government departments including Planning and Development (P&D), Health, Education, Livestock & Dairy Development, Mines & Minerals, Information & Culture, Local Government & Community Development, Punjab Economic Research Institute and others participated in a workshop for the formulation of the Annual Development Plan (ADP) 2016-17. The workshop was organized by the P&D Department with the technical assistance of the SNGProgramme.
The ADP is one of the key instruments of for translating the government’s vision and mission of inclusive, pro-poor and sustainable growth into development projects and schemes for its citizens and the purpose of the workshop was to ensure that government priorities mentioned in the Punjab Growth Strategy 2014-2018 formed the basis of the projects and schemes included in the ADP. This growth strategy envisions a provincial growth of 7-8%, creation of job opportunities for 1 million people and provision of skills to 2 million young people besides delivering good quality public services to the citizens of Punjab.
Participants of the workshop identified sector specific schemes corresponding to the priorities mentioned in the growth strategy.
